Shanti was walking along the woods surrounding her ancestral home. It had been 18 years since she visited the town where she grew up. Memories hit her face like cold wind on a bike ride – Raju, a stray dog who she had rescued from the streets as a puppy, her younger brother who she had the best of times with, especially at their prime play spot which they had constructed with a tent around a log which was shaped like chairs. Nestled in the lap of nature, the town was everything she loved in life.
Until that fateful evening, when her brother was cruelly taken away from her. Fate plays with people’s lives in vicious ways. It had come in the form of a king cobra, and he had collapsed instantly. The nearest hospital was miles away and she watched him die, helpless.
Life had come a full circle for Shanti, who was now making plans of starting her first clinic in this town, after establishing herself as a very capable doctor.

Terrible situations at times bring out the best in us; not just for that moment but in the days to come. Enjoyable read.

*Shiver* My worst nightmare, a king cobra. Glad that she managed to use her tragedy as an inspiration.

A difficult but positive way of dealing with the loss of her brother although it’s my understanding that the venom of a King Cobra is almost instantly fatal (but I’ve been wrong before).
